Wild Turkeys and Other Stuff

I can’t believe the number of wild turkeys on this island.  I was just sitting in my room with the window open and I heard a turkey gobbling in the yard.  I also can’t believe how many domesticated turkeys drive cars but that’s for another day.

Here’s what it sounded like.  There is a 15 second add before the video which is short but funny.

My knee is healing nicely.  It’s healing so well that I can finally drive which makes me very happy.

The kids went to the mainland to a concert for the weekend so I am alone today.  When I got up this morning this was on the kitchen table.  There really is an Easter Bunny.

There was no chocolate in the basket. 😦  I wouldn’t have eaten it.  I would have photographed it.

I finally realized that my head was empty because I haven’t left the house in a month.  Things will be changing.  I now can go out with all the turkeys and find some good old dumbasses.

My son is doing well in St. Augustine, Florida.  He has a house on the beach and has a job which he likes.  He says he’s put on 15 pounds.  The restaurant he works for is a mom and pop owned place and they give him tons of food every time he works.  He’s going to send me a photo and I will post it.

The good weather is coming which means we will soon be losing most of the island to the tourists.   The population goes from 15,000 to 75,000 in the summer and that doesn’t include the thousands of day trippers.  Just over half the houses on the island are only occupied in the summer.

Well, that’s all I’ve got for today.

Happy Easter, Joan! What a nice basket! Not even some heart-healthy dark chocolate? You have more willpower than I do! It was nice of them not to tempt you though. Don’t worry, I ate some for you. 😉

Glad to hear you are feeling better and able to drive!

I would feel the same way if I hadn’t left the house in that long either! I am happy you can drive now.

Wow, it is going to be so different with all the tourists. I bet you’ll have some good stories to tell us!

Happy Easter Girlie. I’m so glad you are able to drive. I can’t wait for one of your video’s. I’ve sure missed them. What a sweet thing for Sarah (I mean the Easter Bunny) to remember you. I’ll bet it was kind of nice to be alone today.

We have turkey’s on our land too and they are magnificent. Don’t they sound wonderful in the wild? I don’t get to close to them though. They aren’t the nicest of creatures.

I hope you enjoy Easter Parade tonight. I love that movie so much I own it.

Happy Easter, Joan! What a lovely Easter basket. But it was thoughtful to give you a basket without candy, since you are doing WW. I find Easter a hard time of year with WW — harder than Christmas I think!!

we had turkeys too in the farm and they can chase kids big time. when we were kids, we avoided crossing paths with them at all cost. ^-^

Oh such good news! Love the bright flowers in the header and oh my!! the sword-wielding princess! Guess what I did today: I had to read out loud from Beowulf for a bunch of misbehaving spit-wad-spitting giggling 7th graders. I so need a drink.

Good think my boyfriend isn’t at your place … he’d be hanging around your backyard trying to bag one of those turkeys!

Hi Joan. Happy that your son found a nice work family that is taking care of him. And, oh my gosh, aren’t you ready to leave the bed? I can’t wait to read your celebrity run ins, as I’m sure you will have them. Enjoy the summer.

I laughed when I noticed the mulleted lesbian on the right is holding a hot dog.
