Answers!

Hannah over at Blairs boys interviewed me and asked me the following five questions and here are the questions and my answers.  Hannah came up with some great questions and, of course, I had to add pictures.  As usual these are my honest answers because I always write  “Whatever I Think”.  BTW  Hannah is one of my great Kiwi friends. She is also a very creative gal and a wonderful wife and mom.

1. What was the first thing you bought for your unborn granddaughter? (I know you must have already bought something!)

Sarah wouldn’t let me buy anything until she was three months along which was just before Christmas. This past Christmas we all decided not to do much in the way of gift buying for each other so I didn’t get Sarah much. She never said I couldn’t get the baby anything. Ha! Ha! I got the baby some small things. I didn’t want to push my luck with my frugal daughter. Anyway, I bought baby some organic cloth diapers. I hate using disposable diapers. Bad for the environment. I used cloth on my kids so I will use cloth on new baby. I also got her a onesie, a teething toy, bibs, washcloths,  a swaddle blanket, a stuffed animal   and I can’t even remember what else.  Now that I know it’s a girl I plan on going out next month when I get my check and pick up some girly stuff.

I suppose I could have picked a better picture of a baby but lately I am starting to remember that awful loud sound of a rugrat baby screaming crying.

2. You have an amazing sense of humour. Did you have that from a young age, or did it develop gradually?

I don’t know if my sense of humor is amazing but I love to laugh.  I was very shy when I was young.  As I got older my shyness started to wear off and was replaced with a big mouth.  I can find humor in most everything I do and look at especially other people.  People do the weirdest stuff.  I don’t suffer from road rage because when drivers do dumbass stuff I find it hilarious.  I think I constantly have a smile on my face when I drive because there are so many dumbass drivers around.  I love to laugh at myself too.  If I do something stupid (which happens a lot)  it always gives me a laugh.

An example of what I find funny!!

3. If you could only eat one meal for the rest of your life, what would it be?

I could live on pizza forever.  Also pizza covers quite a few food groups–grains, protein, vegetables, oil, and if you get a pineapple pizza you’ve got your fruit.  What more could you want plus it tastes freakin’ great.

4. What is your worst/most annoying habit?

My most annoying habit?  I didn’t know I had any.  But if you ask Sarah I know exactly what she would say because she’s told me more than once.  When I start talking my voice gets louder and louder as I get more excited and into what I am talking about.  I guess it can get really loud and borders on yelling.  It’s a habit I am trying to break to protect my poor family and friends from deafness.

5. If you could live anywhere in the world, where would you choose?

I’d have to have money because I don’t want to live somewhere cool and be poor.  I would choose a small village in England.  They speak English there.  I am too old to learn a new language and if I moved to a foreign speaking country I would have to learn the language or I would be a hypocrite.  I am always complaining about people who move to the US and don’t learn the language.  The other thing is I want to live in a cottage with a thatched roof.  I can imagine the house so well.  I also want to walk on the moors.  That sounds so cool.  I also love England because of it’s long history.  I would love to visit  old castles and churches.  I am also waiting for my knight in shining armor to appear.  I figure I have a better chance of this happening in England.

I want the horse too and some young dude man to take care of it and whatever else I want him to do.

Now, if you would like ME to interview YOU, here’s what to do:
1. Leave me a comment saying, “Interview me.”
2. I will email you 5 questions.
3. You answer the questions on your blog.

OK, so that’s my interview.   “Please come and visit our estate again for tea and crumpets.”  That’s Vineyard talk for  “Get your ass over here again quick.”

Rutabaga Baby! Contest Winner Announced!!

I found this video about the town I live in.  There is also a clue on the video as to what I will be sending the winner of my  “Guess the Celebrities” contest.   And that winner is none other than  Teeni!!!!!!!!!

I think what helped her win is because she stays up so late.   I wrote that post very late and figured no one would see it for a while but Teeni had all the answers to me in minutes.  She and I are both night owls.

I can’t think of anyone more deserving to win any prize than Teeni.  She is an extremely caring person and is always there for you with kind words when you need someone.

Congratulations Teeni!

I found the following video on You Tube.  It’s a somewhat professional video about the town I live in.  Vineyard Haven  is part of the town of  Tisbury.  It’s only 3 1/2 minutes long but it gives a good idea about what the town is like.

Your pregnancy: 25 weeks

See the big picture

How your baby’s growing

Head to heels, your baby now measures about 13 1/2 inches. Her weight — a pound and a half — isn’t much more than an average rutabaga, but she’s beginning to exchange her long, lean look for some baby fat. As she does, her wrinkled skin will begin to smooth out and she’ll start to look more and more like a newborn. She’s also growing more hair — and if you could see it, you’d now be able to discern its color and texture.

See what’s going on in your uterus this week.

My little rutabaga baby is growing.

Sarah is doing great.  She is now in her third trimester.  I can’t believe how fast her pregnancy is going by for me.  I don’t know if is going by so fast for her.  I hope so.

Paparazzi= An Old Plump Lady with a Camera and a Cane! Contest!

I was just reading about all the famous celebrities that own homes and visit the island.  I am thinking I should become a paparazzi.  Maybe I could make some extra money.    I would have to be home to cook supper.  I can’t neglect my chores.

I figure I could cane my way to the front of any group of paparazzi so I could get first dibs on any good shots. I would have to practice getting my photos in focus.  I always seem to have trouble with that.  I actually think I need new glasses again.

I’m not sure how Sarah would react to my new career.  I’m thinking as long as there is supper on the table and I don’t climb fences and ladders to get good shots she’d be OK with it.

I guess I would have to bring the baby with me when she finally pops out.  That could be tricky or maybe it might be helpful..   I know she is going to be the cutest baby in the world.  Maybe celebrities would want to give her a hug because she is so sweet.  Then I could snap a photo.  If it’s a celebrity that doesn’t like babies I will cane them.  Everyone should like babies.

The following are some of  the celebrities who have homes on the island or have spent time on the island.

I saw him helping to park cars at a wedding he attended on the island about 25 years ago.

Are they looking at aliens?  Is Bill hoping they beam him up? Is Hillary hoping they beam him up?  Sarah saw them at an ice cream store.

Actually,  I think I should be called a mamarazzi.  Well, whatever I decide you will be the first to know.   The first person to guess the names of everyone in the photos will get a prize from the island.  It won’t be expensive but I will try to find something cool.

I Actually Mingled With the Locals Today!

Today I went to a cooking demonstration at the local kitchen store.  Keep in mind there are no WalMarts or big corporate stores on the island.  No McDonalds or Burger King or Dunkin Donuts, not even a Ben & Jerry’s.  The businesses are all island owned.  So I wasn’t at Sonoma Williams.  This store had everything though.  I was in cooking heaven. Well, not quite heaven because I had no money.

The demonstration was done by the owner of  Tea Lane Caterers. Her name was Dee and she had attended the Culinary Institute of America so she was a real chef.  She was demonstrating cooking with WonTons.  I learned a lot and met a woman who I am going to send some crock pot recipes to.  She was very nice and we exchanged phone numbers.  I can actually make wontons that are low fat.  We got to taste everything that Dee cooked which was fun as it was lunchtime.

The store I was at was right across the street from Sarah’s store so of course I went to visit her afterwards.

I am going to take a course in crochet beading or something like that in April if I am healed enough from my knee replacement surgery on March 11th.  I am really trying to do more and get out more instead of staying home all the time.  I also have to be out and about if I am going to nab handicapped parking thieves and yell at dumbass non-blinker users.  I just hope people don’t mistake my yelling at them for road rage.  No, not me, I’m not angry.

Don’t you just love this sign.  I thought I could put up a few around town.

I can already see that I am going to have a lot of fun here.  It’s like a new beginning.

I leave you with Tracy Chapman–New Beginning

Island Living!

First I would like to thank you for your heart felt messages on my last post. I appreciate your concern and hopefully the one involved will keep trying to do his best.

I haven’t yet set up my computer in my room because I have no table or desk. I have to bring it in the kitchen every time I use it.  It’s leaning up against a pineapple right now.  If I take the pineapple away the cover will smash down on the table.

Now to the good stuff. I love the Island. I love my house. I can’t even think of anything to complain about. Today I made banana muffins and immediately brought one to Sarah at work. It was still hot from the oven. It takes me about 3 minutes to get to her store. The kitchen is a joy to work in.

I do have a minor whine about the drivers here. I don’t think they teach the use of blinkers at driver’s ed on this island. No one uses them. Maybe there are a lot of psychics who live here and just know what direction people are going to turn. Not being psychic I have no clue what direction these dumbasses want to go. It is very annoying.
There are no traffic lights on the whole island.  There is one blinking light and that is it.  The top speed on the island is 45 MPH.  There are a zillion one way streets.  I would love to meet the person who decided how the one ways would run.  There is one place in town called “five corners” which is a hellish place to try to get through in the summer.  I have heard that you just don’t bother to take a left at that intersection.

I hear this was a big seller on the Island last Christmas.

bad-drivers-handbook

Well, I can play the game too.  If they don’t want blinkers I won’t give them blinkers.

left_led_turn

I don’t know if I can do it.  It is ingrained in me to use blinkers. Maybe I will keep using blinkers to be different and set a good example.

Also, some of the people here think it’s OK to park in handicapped parking places when you are not handicapped.  They haven’t met me yet.  I am going to the police department tomorrow hoping they have a volunteer program for catching handicapped parking space thieves.  If they don’t I will have to become a vigilante.  I’ll have to come up with a  MASK and of course I will Use THE CANE!!!!!

Now that things are settled down on all fronts I am back to blogging.  Thanks for hanging in there with me.

Stolen

205410_f260

Tonight a piece of my heart was stolen.  I don’t know if I will ever get it back.  It was ripped out with such force. A force so strong it left me breathless.

I answered the telephone with apprehension knowing he was doing drugs again.  Knowing there was nothing I could do to help him.  Knowing my heart would break.

He said he needed money.  He said he would go to rehab tomorrow.  He said everything would be alright if he could get through tonight.  He said he loved me.

I said no.

I wanted to help him.

I finally did what I should have done years ago.

I told him how much I loved him.  I turned off my phone.

Tonight he has a piece of my heart.  I hope it helps him get through the night.

Video–I’m Too Lazy To Write So I Made a Video!

I’m posting a video because I don’t feel like typing.  What a lazy ass!!  It is not a flattering video of me but I always post videos on the first try so what you see is what you get.  My room isn’t decorated yet but the video gives you a good idea of what it looks like.  There will be more videos next week.  The video is short so take a look!!!
