First I want to thank you for all the wonderful comments on my last post. I would have left comments myself, but packing called to me. I answered that call with a definitive “Packing Sucks!” Unfortunately, I had to do it anyway. I did throw out lots of crap including junk mail. I still can’t figure out why I kept all this junk mail. Did I think it was important at the time? I have no clue.
Now, about the psychic. I have never been to one before and sort of doubted anyone’s ability to be one but a very good friend of mine went to one and was so impressed she paid for my visit. Always looking for some fun I decided to take her up on it.
I went to see Ruth Straus Berkowitz. Her bio includes this info:
Spirit Artist: Spirit guides, working with Rita’s artistic talent, allow her to draw a portrait of a spirit guide or spirit loved one that is around you. Her gifts will also allow the spirit communicator to make know the message they have come to give. Portraits are available in black and white or color.
I wanted see if my Dad was hanging around me. I had her do a color drawing. She picked up on the fact that he had a bump on his nose and had blue eyes. She said he was very impatient and had a great sense of humor–all true.
She also told me I had two children, a girl and a boy. She said the daughter was wonderful and knew where she was going and the son had no clue as to what he wanted to do. She had that right on. She said I had to step back from the son. Ya Think? She also felt there was a granddaughter in the picture.
All in all she convinced me plus it got me out of packing. I didn’t give her any info. She came up with it on her own. I asked her if my Dad had a message for me and evidently he did. He wants me to watch what I eat and be careful with my back. Thanks Dad, but I’m onto to that already. I was hoping he would tell me about some buried treasure or tell me what numbers to bet on the lottery. Oh well.
I guess a lot of people cry when they find out a relative is hanging around them. I’m not sure if they cry because they are pissed about it or happy. I was actually LMAO. My Dad always made me laugh so I wasn’t going to start crying about him now. The psychic said my Dad was trying to get her to hurry up with the drawing. That is so him. I was cracking up when she said that.
After all was said and done I was happy I got the experience.
Next Saturday is the big moving day. After I get my room set up I will be back to blogging regularly. I miss you all!!
I could do this!
Sarah just e-mailed me photos of the new house. Hot off the press:

The Laundry Room
My room
My favorite part of the house__The Front Porch. I wish I had neighbors to spy on!

That house is so cool! I LOVE the kitchen, and I know you are going to spend a lot of time there, cooking healthy meals for your expanding family.
Wow, I’m pretty impressed with what the psychic said! How did she know that stuff? I want to know her secrets! I’m still a skeptic. 😉
I wish I could help you pack, Joan. I was actually a professional packer for a couple of years, if you didn’t know that already. Josh and I could whip through a typical house in half a day and have everything packed, labeled and guaranteed not to break! I don’t miss it though, cause it wasn’t much fun.
I am sort of amazed at the psychic. She was spot on with my dad. I sure wish you were here to help me pack. I suppose I would be faster if I didn’t read every book I pack. 🙂 I can’t wait to do some cooking in that kitchen.

Смеяться не грешно, но признаваться в этом при чтении подобной информации по крайней мере удивило меня!:))
I translated this to English I think: Greshno do not laugh, but to admit that while reading this information at least surprised me!
Well, going to a psychic surprised me too. She was right about her description of my Dad.

I love LOVE the house and am so happy for you!
I’ve had 3 readings from different clairvoyants. The most recent one was almost 9 years ago and I thought she was a crackpot at the time, until her descriptions of certain aspects of my life and my son’s life ended up being spot-on. Like you, I didn’t tell her anything about myself, although I did let her hold a ring I was wearing, as she asked. She was the real deal.
Anyway, back to your house. When can I come over??? 🙂
I was leery about the whole psychic thing but she wa right on about my dad. If you are ever on the Island just let me know. You are always welcome!!

What a cozy and inviting home. I’m sure you’ll make it your own in no time. Hope the move goes smoothly. I hate moving and packing, so you have my sympathy!
Thanks Amy! Moving is hard because I have to let go of so much– material things, friends, family and the house I have lived in for 35 years but there is also so much to look forward to– Shopping in new stores, new places to discover and new friends and a much bigger house and best of all a granddaughter. Also friends and family can visit and stay overnight and My new big kitchen. I think the good definitely outweighs the bad.

The house looks fabulous!! I just love how rustic it looks, especially that porch. Just like in the movies. Beautiful.
Good luck with the move. Packing is the worst! I hope you get settled in quickly at the other end, it will be all worth it! 🙂
Rustic is such a good word for the house. I can see myself on the porch this summer rocking my granddaughter. I really think in the end it will all be worth it.

OMG – It’s gorgeous, Joan! Absolutely gorgeous! I’m starting to hear that theme song from “The Jeffersons,” in my head, because you’re “Moving On Up!” Check out that kitchen! I can only imagine all the fun you are going to have in there! Yahoo! Very excited for you! 🙂 🙂 🙂
“Moving On Up” definitely describes the situation. I really hope you can come to visit. I can even put you up. We have so much more room. I’ll make you a great organic meal. Have you ever been to the island?

Beautiful house, Joan! Purge as much as you can in the move! I’ll be sending you good thoughts this week.
I am proud to say that I got rid of 9 large rubbish bags full of junk just from my room alone. I am such a pack rat. Tomorrow we do the kitchen and the bathroom and living room. The kitchen will definitely be the worst. Thanks for the good thoughts!!

That house looks kinda spooky from the outside, but so comfy and cozy on the inside. Despite the spookiness, that front porch looks so relaxing, especially without noisy (or nosy) 😉 neighbors around. 😛 I’m so happy for you all.
That was a wild reading you got from that lady. 😯 I’m with BirdPress when it comes to being skeptical, but I still want to believe. So many intimate details she came up with. Amazing. Makes me want to go. 🙂

Lovely house, Joan. You are so nice to share the pictures. Oh, that east coast charm; we have nothing like it here. I just love the shutters! The porch is great! The kitchen looks so modern and large and with lots of counter space. I wasn’t expecting that from the old-fashioned charm of the outside. You have a lovely large room with a good sized closet, too! I’m happy you are able to get rid of so much stuff, and that you didn’t have the same experience moving as did our former Vice President.
Your psychic rocks!

Hi Joan,
Your new house is so fresh and clean and white and wood and perfect. I can almost spell the newness. Its beautiful – You’ll have to spy on the little animals.
I to had a very intresting experience at a spiritualist church where my father came to say hello to me – wierd and a bit scarey but I loved it to.
Big love coming your way

Joan, that house is beautiful! I can’t wait to see your new room after you Joan-ify it! That kitchen is gorgeous, too! You have so many cabinets and all that counterspace is lovely! Imagine the meals you’ll be preparing in that place!
Maybe there is a new career in your future: Fortune teller! I’ll send you the cookies, you unwrap as needed!! 😀

Hi Joan ! I’ve been waiting for your next installment ! I looked at my desktop and there it was !! What can I say the others haven’t already said ….your house is just beautiful ! I’ve always loved weathered shingles and the porch is excellent ! Now I really miss the Cape !! 😦 I can smell the ocean air from PA !! It looks like the WHOLE inside is new ! How great is that? How old is the house itself? I love every room , but I really love the LAUNDRY ROOM ! Its UPSTAIRS and not hidden in a celler, easily accessible . Wendy and I have always had to do laundry in the celler or an unheated back room garage. UGH !! Not fun! Get the guest room ready ! Looks like your going to have to have a sign-in guest book ! 😀

I love the house! I have a feeling you guys are going to be soo happy there!
I have always wanted to go to a psychic but I have never had the guts to do it! Plus I don’t like wasting my own money! If any of my dead relative really want to talk to me they know where I am and that I am too much of a cheap ass to call them myself! 🙂

I am so envious of you. This house looks fantabulious!!!! I can see you rocking away on the porch. I also love that big open and airy kitchen. Your room looks huge. Moving sucks and I don’t envy you that. I’m also a “saver” and moving for me sucked. I’m really happy for you and hope it all goes well. Selfishly, I really miss seeing you around so I can’t wait.

I’ve only been once or twice. I know I stayed for a week once with friends and may have gone for a day trip or two before. Man that porch looks good! 🙂 Anyway, I have something for you at my place but no rush or anything. Just want you to know I thought of you. http://www.vtroom.com/2009/01/25/gifts-and-gems/

I got so carried away with your new home that I forgot to tell you ,I think that psychic you visited sounds pretty good. I know there are some wackos out there, but there are a few that really know what they’re doing. Wendy and I use to go,quite often, to a psychic at the Mashpee Book Store, her name is Sharon and she is absolutly unbelievable ! My daughter,Missy, actually went to her a couple times after the death of her boyfriend . Sharon has been called in to help the police dept.on missing people cases! Pretty good references! AND she was succesful! I ‘ve forgotton her last name , I know that the bookstore closed a little while back. Wendy might know where she moved to. Anyway, sounds like your person is in tune,or she was that day you saw her!

I noticed shopping in one of your comments… I hope you mean grocery shopping. We didn’t throw enough away for you to start bringing in new stuff already ;P Thinking about coming for a second installment of packing Burden/York tomorrow, so I will probably see you then. Yes, I am a gluten for punishment! It’s been 25 years since I have seen that place clutter free, I’m excited.

The house looks fabulous! And that kitchen rocks! Our shutters are the exact same colour. How cool! Loving the porch too.
Wow, your Dad, Joan. That is so nice. I’m glad you were able to ‘connect’
I used to go to them but the only one I believe was one that actually walked up to me. No money, nothing and said something that freaked me right out. (A good thing) It was nothing general, very specific, that could not be shrugged off for anything else.
I have my aura read from time to time, and they take pictures too! She is quite good.
Take care. Did I say how much I love the house? 😉

I.
Love.
Your.
House.
Seriously, I saw that photo of the front and actually gasped. I happen to be covering for my receptionist for her lunch right now, and I’m pretty sure I weirded out a few people.
I would say that 95% of psychics out there are crap. But that only solidifies my belief in that 5% who actually do have a connection, and they can be downright freaky in their accuracy! I saw one a few years ago, and she told me that I would meet someone who I should really avoid but would go for anyways – even gave me bits of his phone number. Five years later, and boy was she right. But I’ve got someone good now, so all’s well that ends well, right?
Good luck with the rest of the packing/moving, and show us more pics once you’ve settled and got your homey touches everywhere!

The psychic reading, kinda bizarre huh? Oh well, got you out of packing and sounds like you found it entertaining – how can you go wrong with that?
OMG, the front porch! It’s gorgeous! My goodness, just think of how good it’s going to feel once you’re in and all of your crap is not following you there. You are going to be so de-cluttered! Happy Happy Joy Joy! That’s how I felt after I had my garage sale! Oh, no neighbors to spy on? Dangit! I’m sure you’ll come up with some mischief! It is you we are talking about after all….
The house looks absolutely amazing, I’m thrilled for all of you!!!

Joan, your new home is lovely — how exciting! I’m looking outside at a foot of snow and I now want to move south where they don’t know what ice is! Wish I’d seen a psychic a couple of weeks ago before I had my nasty fall – she probably would have told me I was going to meet a tall, dark, handsome stranger (my physical therapist) Hugs!

WOW !! lucky, lucky you. The house is lovely. And to be able to sit on the porch at night.
I visited a psychic about 20 years ago. Some of them wow me, but some I think (as with everything) are fakes. I am very careful with that whole spirit world.
