Going To The Vineyard!!

Tomorrow morning Sarah and I are going to Martha’s Vineyard for the weekend. I will miss weight watchers but I think I have lost about 2 pounds this week. Sarah got tickets to the play “It’s A Wonderful Life”. We have front row seats thanks to the wheel chair. They are having a great Christmas celebration over the weekend in Edgartown.

To me, doing things like this with Sarah is what Christmas is all about. I am really looking forward to this.

Your pregnancy: 14 weeks

How your baby’s growing:

This week’s big developments: Your baby can now squint, frown, grimace, pee, and possibly suck his thumb! Thanks to brain impulses, his facial muscles are getting a workout as his tiny features form one expression after another. His kidneys are producing urine, which he releases into the amniotic fluid around him — a process he’ll keep up until birth. He can grasp, too, and if you’re having an ultrasound now, you may even catch him sucking his thumb. In other news: Your baby’s stretching out. From head to bottom, he measures 3 1/2 inches — about the size of a lemon — and he weighs 1 1/2 ounces. His body’s growing faster than his head, which now sits upon a more distinct neck. By the end of this week, his arms will have grown to a length that’s in proportion to the rest of his body. (His legs still have some lengthening to do.) He’s starting to develop an ultra-fine, downy covering of hair, called lanugo, all over his body. Your baby’s liver starts making bile this week — a sign that it’s doing its job right — and his spleen starts helping in the production of red blood cells. Though you can’t feel his tiny punches and kicks yet, your little pugilist’s hands and feet (which now measure about 1/2 inch long) are more flexible and active.

So baby has gone from a shrimp to a lemon. I wonder if they will continue to compare baby to food. I guess baby will be an orange soon.

I did what little shopping I had to do on Amazon today. The Vineyard has some awesome shops so I might pick up a few things there.

I have to make this short because it’s late and I have to pack and get ready for tomorrow. I hope you all have a great weekend. I will try to post tomorrow while Sarah is working. I will take lots of photos too.

Have fun, Joanie and bring your cane – you may need it to beat off any dumbass shoppers. I wish they would stop describing the baby as food. I love the updates but they make me hungry! 🙂

It is funny how they compare in-utero babies to food items isn’t it? Soon he/she will be a little angel though, eh?

The play sounds fabulous and I hope you have a great time. I look forward to the pictures.

    Love

Tell me if you find the Christmas Spirit — and send him/her/it my way. I think mentally I’m still in November. :/

Enjoy your time with your girl. My best Christmas time is with my daughter, as well. Making cookies, watching Christmas movies together, decorating. The guys in the family are best at going out in the woods and gathering greenery. :/
