A Short Funny One!!

In my comments from my last blog,  many of you mentioned ED ads and DA (dumbass) that I am and always having a problem with acronyms I couldn’t figure out what the hell you were all talking about.  I am thinking ‘What could ED possibly stand for?”  Ha! Ha!   I had to google it.  Well now I know.  Learn something new everyday.  Even at my age. I can’t even print some of the things I thought. I’ll just say the nickname for Richard was in a lot of them.

This is more what I was thinking about.  Yet on some level it didn’t make sense but lots of stuff that I think doesn’t make sense.  And I am not too proud to admit it.

    That is quite funny, Joan!
I’m always using acronyms, it’s partly because of my job (medical writer) so forgive me if I do it too much! I’m sure deciphering too many acronyms in blog comments could cause your BP to skyrocket resulting in an MI, give you a GU, or else accelerate the progression to AD! Not to mention the DVTs we could all get from sitting too long reading silly comments like mine!!! Okay, I’m off to take my OCD pills, and then work on my ADHD report. 😀

Oh my, I think you just put me over the edge. Ha! Ha! I do recognize ADHD. We thought my son had it when he was younger. He had such a tough time concentrating in school. I would never have given him medication but I did find ways to help him.

In the voice of Nelson from the Simpsons “Ha-ha!” 😛

I had to go to You Tube to actually hear Nelson say Ha! Ha!. It was great.

LOL, I have this all the time, Joan. You are not alone.

Here’s a confession: I only found out in the last couple of months what DH stood for when people were talking about their other half. I had guessed, but guessed wrong. Finally asked someone, hee hee.

Like Hannah, in my profession there are a lot of acronyms that other people wouldn’t know and I have to be exact aware not to use them in the wrong situation.

Here’s a worse confession I still don’t know what DH stands for or BFF either. I can only think that DH stands for dumbass husband. Am I right?

Hmmm… yeah, there are times when I really couldn’t grasp acronyms too… We are on the same level with acronyms I guess…

    Happy day for you Joanie!

I don’t know if I will ever get all the acronyms but I am trying one acronym at a time.

OK, I used the acronym ED… sorry about that…I should know better since it’s rule one of technical editing to spell out the acronym on first instance, especially if the user is unlikely to know the meaning.

So did your definition have the word “eager” in it? If it did, that totally made me LOL. (laugh out loud, but I assume you know that one, heh heh)

No I never thought of eager. That would have been perfect. I thought of educated but that certainly didn’t make sense.

They advertise eating disorders now?! That pro-ana thing has gotten way out of hand…
    😉

Wow, I didn’t know what pro-ana was and looked it up on Wikipedia. That’s sort of a scary thing.

I love the acronym DA….you can carry on a whole conversation with one and they have NO FLIPPIN idea you are even talking about them.

People think I work with law. I’ll say “did you see that DA?” and they think I am talking about the district attorney .. DE DE DE (by the way not acronym…that is from Carlos Mencia)

    how are you Joan?

Now DA I understand very well. I am doing fine today. Thanks for asking.

How bad is this? I’m still trying to figure out what an ED ad is and I googled it!

Ha! Ha! Took me a while too. Erectile dysfunction, how’s that for ED.

I’ve no idea who ED is, I thought he was just some bloke down the street.

    love, Di

Ha! Ha! “some bloke down the street.” That’s just about what I thought too. It stands for erectile dysfunction.

That’s alright. It’s not a woman “thing” anyway. Hey did you know you can get Cialis in a daily dose now?

I really know nothing about Cialis. Before the daily dose how did a guy take it?

ROFL Joan! I prefer your ED ad to the ones on TV. 😀

Now that we all know what ED means I’m glad you like mine. I mean my ad.

Honest Ed’s??? Are there Honest Ed’s outside Toronto? It can’t be! Is that from the Honest Ed’s in Toronto (launched by Honest Ed Mirvish, who rebuilt Toronto’s theatre district)? Cause if so, dude, I’m looking at it right now! I can see the flashy lights from my window 🙂

Shut the fuck up!!! I don’t believe it!! Yes, it is Honest Ed’s. I remember when I ganked it off Google Images I saw the name Mirvish. That is so wicked cool. I can’t believe I would pick that image and your looking at the place right now. Is that an old ad with those prices or does he sell stuff at those cheap prices now? I want to go there if so.

Okay. Cialis is a pill for ED. The only dosing in the past was for when you “needed” it. Now they just introduced a daily low dose. I just hope it’s cheaper, but I doubt it.

Nothing ever seems to be cheaper, unfortunately.

hahaha….I never thought I would associate my classic “Honest Ed’s” Toronto landmark with “ED” ads referring to “broken junk”, but now I forever will! 😉

I had no clue that Honest Ed’s was in Toronto until Emerald told me. Honest ED’s = broken junk. Who would have thought!!!
