Chapter 3 Finally! Includes 2 Videos I Mess Up!!

Monday was the last day of my visit to the Vineyard. I will show you my last day with photos and videos.

I’m standing in front of Sarah’s store and this is the view to my left.

The view to my right.

This is the store that Sarah manages. www.cbstark.com If you go to the about us page at their web site you will see Sarah’s bio.

This is one of the pieces I covet but it is way more than I can afford.

This is Alley’s General Store and one of the most famous places on the Island. It’s a small store that sells everything. It hasn’t changed much since it opened in 1858.

This is The Field Gallery.

While continuing to present a permanent sculpture garden of work by Tom Maley, the three interior galleries offer rotating exhibits of contemporary paintings, sculpture and photography by local as well as nationally acclaimed artists.

Finally, lunch with my best friend of 49 years and her family. On the left my friend, her son and his girlfriend, her husband.  On the right me, Sarah and my friend’s daughter and her 5 month old baby.

I did the absolutely most dumbass thing when I took the following video.  You’ll realize what it is when it happens.

In this video I call my daughter by the wrong name.

We took many more photos but I won’t bore you with them.  I did find out that I can’t be in the sun anymore.  I had a reaction from the prednisone I take.  My arms have a weird rash on them from the sun.

Now I have to go make a crock pot supper. I am making a new recipe called Char Siu boneless pork chops.

😦 I’m sorry to hear about your new “no sun” policy. That sucks. I guess you can still go to the beach before the sun comes up and just after it goes down. Both beautiful times of the day, less people and it’s cool. I guess it’s not all bad. 😉

A little sideways video and you renamed your daughter. Wow, you are so artistic and creative. 😛 Hope you’re feeling better, Joan. Take care. 🙂

Umbrellas will work if they don’t blow away. Yea, I can do a lot with a video camera and memory loss. I am feeling fine now. Thanks for asking.

Gee, love the sideways video, my chiropractor will love you too. That necklace is to die for and I’m not even big into jewelry. I’ve been busy and am just now catching up and didn’t realize your son had been sick. I’m glad he’s ok; kids can certainly worry us to death!!

I don’t know what I was thinking when I flipped the camera. I guess two drinks is one too many for me. Thank goodness he didn’t have meningitis. he feels better today. Your right about kids. You never stop worrying about them no matter how old they are.

That little chubbiness made me want a baby for about five seconds- which is four seconds longer than my usual urge when seeing adorable little babes. He’s that cute!

Your pictures are so clear. You can tell you’re near the sea, there’s that blue clean quality to the photos i adore.

Sarah looks so much like you, it’s crazy! It’s the eyes mostly, i think. Your doppleganger…

Prednisone is such a pain in the butt! It caused so much problems for my husband when he took it for asthma. i feel for you, Noni. You don’t strike me as one that can do without sun because, well, you’ve a sunny disposition! 🙂

Everyone says that she looks like me. Yes, the sky is always a beautiful bright blue here. I am trying to get off Prednisone. I’m down to 7 1/2 mgs. I’m going to try for 5 but if I go lower I can’t walk. I’ve tried once before. I love the beach and the sun.

These are great. I love em. Beautiful necklace. What a neat little town and you all looked like you were having so much fun. Sorry about your sun rash, that’s a real drag. Is there anything you can put on to prevent that? You never bore me with your pics, I love them.

I guess I just have to stay in the shade. The pharmacist said I can use an umbrella. Vineyard Haven is a beautiful towns. The nice thing about the island is there are no McDonalds or Burger Kings, no Wal-Mart or any other department stores. I’m always afraid of putting up too many photos. I always think who wants to see me?

Aww, I loved the photos and the videos! Too funny about the sideways one – I did the SAME THING when I was videoing TGH’s aunt at her wedding on the beach in Maine. **boinks self in forehead**. I’m not a big jewelry person either but I do like the piece you lust after – it is very unique and pretty. Sarah didn’t seem to notice that you didn’t call her by the right name. Either she had some drinks too or you do it too often for her to notice. LOL. Just teasing! 😉

I feel better about the video. At least I am not the only one to have done that. I think it’s more that she just doesn’t here me all the time because I talk so much. She just tunes me out. I never used to be big on jewelry but Sarah just keeps giving me great stuff to wear.

Hehe, I love the sideways video!! Great photos too, the place looks amazing and I would love to visit sometime.
You’ll have to share your recipe for the Pork Chops if they go down well 😉

I can’t believe I did a sideways video. I can’t imagine what I was thinking. The Vineyard is a beautiful place. One of the few places that has retained it’s New England charm.

The pork chops were awesome. I will post this recipe. It was so easy too.

The island is quiet most of the year but it is crazy with tourists in the summer. I can’t believe I’ve known my friend for that long. The art garden was cool. I had never walked around it before.

Are you allowed to tell us how much the necklace is? It’s beautiful!

I was thinking the same thing, best friends for 49 years. That’s longer than most marriages. LOL!

Great photo’s and video’s. A new slant on life! The baby sure is a cutie!

Glad to hear you and Damon are doing better.
    Take Care

We met when I was 10 years old and have always been best friends. “A new slant on life” That’s a good way of putting it. The baby is a cutie.

Holy moly batman, that necklace is really expensive!!!

Yes it is. That’s why I will never own it. I like jewelry but not that much. Yet, they sell them quite often.

Joy, I thought I’d missed something and then went duh! Click on the link to the store. LOL!

You are right. It’s way out of my league. But worth it!

Even at Sarah’s cost price I couldn’t afford that piece. But I can always wish.

Wow, they have some beautiful wares at Sarah’s shop. Love the silverware especially.

What a cool post, Joan. Feel like I have actually visited Martha’s Vineyard myself now.

Love the photo of you and sculpture in your header today too.

Sarah’s store has some great stuff. A lot of it is designed by her bosses who are silversmiths. I loved that horse sculpture but I don’t think I would want to sit on it.

Yes, I had the best time and can’t wait to visit again for a weekend. I’m all about babies too only the battery on my clock died and I have to wait for my daughter to have a baby.

Oh it’s so pretty there. I’d love to live in a place like that. Quiet and peaceful, quaint. Loved the vids – LOL. YOu crack me up Joanie.

Yea, I am a great videographer. I can’t tell which way is up or down or whether the camera is even on. The Vineyard is all of those things except during tourist season when it gets crazy.

    Love,
    Joanie

I loved the pictures. It makes me want to visit. The necklace is beautiful and I’ll have to click the link to find out the price. I’m sure I’ll have sticker shock, LOL. The videos were great! I just did a little neck stretch for the first, and the second I had to watch twice to catch the mistake. The baby (Karl, right?) was soooo adorable. I’m glad you had a fabulous weekend! 😀

I think the baby’s name Is Carl and he is certainly adorable. The Vineyard is worth a trip. I was hoping to run into the Clintons because they vacation there but I did sell tickets to the guy who hosts the Clintons when they visit. I still can’t believe I turned the camera sideways. I was thinking that it was a still picture and I could turn it around later. Duh!!
