No WW Saturday Update! I Forgot To Set My Alarm!! Memory Lane!

Well, I did it again and forgot to set my alarm.  I hate missing a Weight Watcher’s Meeting. I forgot to mention that last week I made it into the 50’s by .2 pounds so I now weigh 259.8 as of last week so I can officially listen to music of the 50’s. I posted this list when I hit the 60’s but I will post it again so you can get an idea of what I will be listening to for hopefully not too long.

  • Perry Como
  • Tony Bennett
  • Rosemary Clooney
  • Eddie Fisher
  • Nat King Cole
  • Pat Boone
  • Fats Domino
  • The Platters
  • Bill Haley & His Comets
  • Jerry Lee Lewis
  • The Everly Brothers
  • Buddy Holly & The Crickets
  • Frankie Avalon
  • Paul Anka
  • Bobby Darin
  • Elvis Presley
  • The Chordettes
  • The McGuire Sisters
  • Little Richard
  • Patti Page

I used to love Pat Boone when I was a kid.  My favorite movie of his was “April Love” 1957.  Pat Boone has been replaced by Johnny Depp who doesn’t sing but sure is a hot one and a damn good actor too.

Do you remember Poodle Skirts.  They were made out of felt.  My sister had a felt skirt but she didn’t have a poodle on it.

Birdpress ought to bring the poodle skirt back into style.

It was hard being 6 years younger than my sister because she got to do stuff I couldn’t do like read Modern Screen Magazine.  My mother thought it showed to many suggestive images whatever that meant to her.

I used to get hold of them anyway.I loved reading about movie stars and used to send away for autographed photos of them, not realizing that the photos were just stamped with the autograph.

One of my favorite TV shows back then was “Route 66”  I loved those guys in their Corvette.

Well, enough about memory lane.  I just found out there are some episodes of Route 66 on DVD. I might just have to see if Netflix has them.

Well look for new videos next week as my sister drives us around Falmouth.  I am also going to interview my sister and have her interview me.  So if you have any questions for me just let me know.  I will also be writing about how my sister and I discovered you could listen to cell phone conversations on a police scanner.  This was about 10 years ago.  They finally took the cell phone bands off the scanners.

OMG, Joan, pretty soon, you and I are going to be the same size. How cool will that be??? And pretty soon, you’re going to be as skinny as you are in that photo of you in the bikini. I should scan some of my old photos and blog them. LOL.

    Congrats!

Thanks, it’s going to be very cool!! I don’t know if I’ll ever be as skinny as I was in the photo but I am going to be healthy looking someday soon. Yes, you should scan some of your old photos and make some videos too.

Congrats on getting into the 50’s! I’m looking forward to those interviews.

I always wanted to get Alice a skirt with a person on it so she would be a poodle wearing a person skirt. What do you think?

I definitely think you should get Alice a person skirt. I don’t think they will ever bring back the poodle skirt. Maybe that’s a good thing. I remember all the petticoats you’d have to wear under them.

I think the interviews will be fun.

You are defiantly entertaining. I can’t wait to see you two driving around town. You were good alone so I can imagine how it’s going to be with a sidekick! LOL!!

Love the music, love the clothes and way to go on the weight loss. Keep up the good work. Are you in Massachusetts? I’ll try and think of some questions if I know.

    PS…love your accent.

I am in Massachusetts. I am a Cape Cod gal. I don’t have an accent. Everybody else does. OK, I might as well give up on trying to convince everyone and myself that I don’t have an accent. When I heard myself talk even I realized I have some sort of accent. It’s not a Boston one but a of combination R. I. (where I was born in a French Mill town) and Cape Cod accent. I say my Rs a lot but sometimes don’t. My sister’s name is Barb but we all call her Bob. And I just realized I say sistah not sister. OOPS! Didn’t know that until this very moment. Ha! Ha!

I’ve got a long way to go with the weight loss but I’m gonna keep on truckin’.

Some real timeless music/artists here Joan. I doubt most of the music produced today will be as enduring.

Wasn’t born until the 60s but I grew up with a lot of these artist thanks to my parents music collection.

Wow, you are doing so wel with your weight loss!

You’re right about the music. Each generation seems to have their stars. I love music from the 60’s but I also love The Big Bands of the 40’s. I’m afraid I don’t like Rap. My son is on Facebook and under what type of music do you like he put “anything my parents like”. I thought that was very cool.

Aww, sorry you missed your meeting, but hey you will probably have an AWESOME result next week!! 😉

GO YOU on being able to listen to 50’s music!

Oh, and tonight I made the Cashew & Rosemary Chicken. My parents ended up coming for dinner too and everybody just LOVED the chicken. Mum & Dad want me to give them the recipe, and even my kids ate it all up nicely (and they are not the biggest fans of chicken). Thank you so much for sharing it! We will definitely be having it again 😉

Oh, I am so happy you liked the recipe and the rest of the family too. 50’s music isn’t too bad. I actually like early Frank Sinatra stuff.

I love Rosemary Clooney. And any movie with Sandra Dee in it (I swear if I could watch the Tammy movies over and over. Gidget too.)

    Apparently I’m a complete dweeb.

And seriously…fab job with the weight watchers. I have significant admiration for anyone with that kind of determination and resolve.

Ooh. Debbie Reynolds too. I’ve got Huz watching Singing in the Rain with me all the time…I love those movies.

I love Rosemary Clooney too. She had a wonderful voice. I saw every Tammy movie and every Gidget movie. I wanted to be Gidget. I guess we are both dweebs. That’s OK, dweebs are cool. Oh yea, Debbie Reynolds. I’ve seen most of her movies too.

I am determined about losing weight. I want to be here for my grandchildren and in good health so I can take care of them. That’s what keeps me going.

Awwww, does that mean I have to share Johnny Depp? He is my absolute FAVE. Did you know he plays a mean guitar? Oh yes, even hotter with a guitar. 😀 Can’t wait to hear about the cell phone conversations you picked up with the police scanner. Sorry you missed your meeting!

Have you ever heard Johnny Depp on the guitar? I haven’t. He is an awesome actor and a hot looking dude. I will definitely NOT miss the next meeting.

Woohoo for the 50’s! 😀 Loved your list too.

I’m a Johnny Depp fan myself. **drool** 😉

I was born in 1949 and can remember my parents playing vinyl records on their player and listening to Patti Page. Gotta love Johnny Depp!!!!

Congratulations! Even if you did oversleep, you’re still in the 50s and that’s cause for celebration.

Reading over your music list I paused at Bobby Darin. I didn’t know anything about him until I saw the movie with Kevin Spacey. Bobby was kind of a dick.

My mother wouldn’t let me read movie star magazines because they always had ads for the Mark Eden Bust Developer Cream in them. She also thought the whole magazine was very “suggestive.”

I can just hear Barbara saying, “Gimme the skirt but I don’t want that stupid dog on there…”

Yea, I saw that Kevin Spacey movie too. You’re right he was a dick. I didn’t much like his music when I was young either. I figured my mother was the only one who wouldn’t let their child read movie star mags. Oh, Barbara would never allow a poodle on her skirt. I’m going to see if I can find a photo of her in one.

Woohoo on the 50’s! Congratulations! And LOL @ bird’s person skirt idea.

This blog just keeps getting better and better.

I think Birdpress could make a few bucks with that idea. I love the 50’s!!

Ooooh. Now you’ve got me thinking about saddle oxfords. I want those sexy things to come back in style.

I remember I used to have saddle shoes and penny loafers. I wonder if they still make penny loafers.
