Museditions’ Meme– I Liked This One a Lot

I found this meme on Museditions‘ blog. She is a new friend of mine whose blog I have really been enjoying. I love memes as we all know. She didn’t tag anyone and neither will I. It’s always go for it if you choose to or not.

1. What does gobbledygook mean to you? β€”Museditions had a really intelligent response to this question. I don’t. All that comes to me is oatmeal. I don’t like oatmeal. I know it’s good for you and all that but to me it’s gobbledygook.

GOBBLEDYGOOK

2. What do you like about yourself? β€” Oh Lord, what don’t I like about myself. Lately I like everything. I’m really in a good place right now. Financially, I’ve lost everything I ever owned, my business, my house and my car. Instead I still get to live in my house only I don’t have to pay the mortgage. I lost the business so I don’t have to work and I drive my daughter to work and her car is better than mine which is broken and can stay that way for all I care. I get to live with my daughter whom I adore. My stress level has gone from a billion down to almost nothing. I’m finally losing weight so in a year I’m going to be hot. I just haven’t figured out how to get younger. I’m working on it. I’ve always had self confidence which I passed on to my daughter. Would it be over the top to just say “I am too cool”. πŸ™‚

3. What activity do you enjoy doing, that you never thought you would until you tried it? β€”I honestly have to say blogging. I really didn’t even know what blogging was until recently and then I thought no, not for me. Now I’m on the computer 75 % of the day blogging.

4. What have you learned about yourself from your previous (and current) romantic relationships? β€” I have only had one real relationship and that was with the wasband. When we got divorced I learned I never wanted to be in a relationship again and I never was. He ruined me made me realize I don’t like relationships all that much. I think it’s because I am too selfish with my time. Also I don’t like being told what to do or think or how I should feel. That ends up happening so often in relationships. Sorry, it’s my way or the highway.

5. What physical traits do you find attractive in the opposite sex? β€” Hopefully, they have most of their body parts intact. At my age you take what you can get. Ask me again when I’m hot. I’ll be looking for someone younger.

6. Do you believe in any superstitions, or have some particular ritual? β€” OK, I knock on wood way to often. My sister believes in the jinx gods and now she’s got me sort of believing (mostly so I won’t upset her). I love rituals. I just forget to do them. I light candles at night when I am alone which scares the hell out of the kids because they think I’m going to set the house on fire. But now I only burn candles in containers. I like to sit in a candlelit room and play loud music.

7. What’s the nicest thing you’ve ever done for somebody? β€” OMG, I actually had to sit here for a long time to think of something. I know I’ve done nice things for people. I just know it. I just can’t think of one. We’ll come back to this later. I’m back to this question. The only thing I can think of right now is I haven’t shot the lady next door because she leaves her dog out crying all the time. She’s damn lucky I don’t have a gun. I would never shoot the dog but she’s just very lucky I haven’t caned her. Damn, people have done so many nice things for me. I must have done something nice to deserve what I’ve received. I’ll have to ask my daughter. She’ll remember something. πŸ™‚

8. If you could do something with your blog (cost, time and other factors irrelevant), what would you do?— That’s easy–NOTHING!

9. Books, chocolates, sex. Make a sentence with it β€” I’d rather read a book and eat chocolate than have sex. Ask me again when I’m hot.

I DIDN’T EAT THE CHOCOLATE WHEN I TOOK THE PHOTO!!

10. If you were dead now, what would people most remember about you? β€”They would remember that I was a little nutty eccentric, loved to have fun, loved my family more than anything in the world, that I’m going to come back as a ghost, that I spent way too much time on the computer, and not to forget to feed the cats.

So what did you learn about me–I’m selfish, don’t do nice things for people (I know I have, I just know I have, I must have) , I hate oatmeal and maybe I’ll like men again when I’m hot and figure out how to get younger. Oh, and I love myself. Wow , I really sound like a biotch.

That you don’t like oats makes me want to cry. Look at those raisins in there Joan! WTF? You ran a health food store! How could you HATE nature’s perfect food?

Thanks for this provocative post. πŸ˜€ I think I understand your claims of total selfishness, but I don’t quite believe them. I prefer to think that you (and I) are possessed of a special sort of self-involvement that allows us to better understand others. Not that we can necessarily help others, but by knowing ourselves we can understand just how fucked up people can be.

    Capisce?

I think I had some kind of oatmeal crisis when I was a child and it was so bad I blocked it from my memory leaving me with a hatred of oats. I was a good mom and fed my children oatmeal knowing the health benefits but I used to almost barf while doing it.

    I love raisins though.

Oh yes, capisce! That sounds way better.

i love reading people’s memes but don’t do them very often.
    i really liked this one.

When my older daughter was about two, she called oatmeal (which i love by the way) opie-meal. Twelve years later we, all of my sisters’ kids and my mom call it opi-meal.

Mostly though, i wanted to tell me that you helped me just today. And i want to say thank you, because it meant very much to me. So, you do nice things.

    You’re just modest. πŸ˜‰

Ahh, this one had me cracking up. I’m sure you do lots of nice things – one of them is keeping people entertained with your blog! But I’m sure you do many more. Funny how you can never think of those things when you need to! LOL. I found it hard to believe you didn’t like oatmeal either but I totally understand how one bad experience can mess you up for a long time. Dang -thanks for reminding me, unintentionally, about that book, Ender’s Game – I need to get that. πŸ™‚

OMG – ROFL – I just noticed your little blurb on the left sidebar you wrote thanking Anne and myself for the award that you don’t know how to put up there. I will be happy to help you set that up if you like. Do you have a flickR account?

I love your sense of humor. If you can get me to laugh out loud, you are good, really good! And, I’ve sat here many ‘o nights laughing at your shit! Thanks Joan! I’m gonna steal this meme!

Joan, thanks so much for the compliments! I’m enjoying getting to know you and your blog as well. 1-I like oatmeal, but we’ve all had our food traumas…2-I LOVE this answer! You are so cool! I like how you turned supposed negatives into positives! And, in my opinion, you are hot now! (wait a sec, I also said you’re cool—well you can be both)…6-the candle ritual is very nice, and that picture is wonderful. It’s great getting to read all these things about you. Meme on!

I always thought it was GOBBLEDYGOOP, not GOBBLEDYGOOK, but spell check confirms I’m retarded. πŸ˜• And it is for this reason that I don’t like this meme, will be boycotting it, and refuse to comment any further.

Maybe if I had called it opi meal it would have seemed more tolerable.

You are so welcome and everything I said truly came from the heart. I go to a therapist but all my daughter’s and son’s friends have always come to me for advice. One of my daughter’s ex-boyfriends from high school came to me for love advice about his new girlfriend. He said he just didn’t know what to do but knew I would. My only regret is that I wasn’t able to help my son’s ex-girlfriend who called me and came to me for advice about her heroin addiction. She overdosed and died last September. I tried so hard but she wasn’t ready to give it up. Thank God my son did.

I am such a retard sometimes. I’ve used flickr before and it just never occurred to me. DUH!! Thanks for reminding me.

    @ javaqueen
If I’ve made just one person a day laugh out loud I’m Happy. I’m especially happy when it is you. Please do the meme. I’m glad you like my shit, nobody around here does–they make me flush it.

    @museditions
Hot and cool– That gives me a WARM feeling. I had a cherry soda trauma when I was little too. I puked up cherry soda everywhere and I can’t tolerate anything cherry flavored. Everyone loves oatmeal but me.

    @ birdpress

Just keep a positive attitude and you will be me. And when the good Whoever decides it’s my time I will probably haunt you (in a good way) just to make sure you have. I will keep my promise of never entering bathrooms or bedrooms when I’m a ghost.

    @ Peter
Thank goodness I have you as a friend to always give me a good laugh. Actually, I don’t thjink I’ve ever seen you do a meme. We may have to remedy that. What can I do to get you to do a meme?

Great meme, Joan. And thank you for the link, it was exactly what I wanted. So, see? You did something nice. Not being political but still popping over to my site to help me out. πŸ™‚

I try but I have such a crappy memory. We only eat organic if it is at all possible. We are very careful about what we put on our skin. You absorb 60% of what you put on your skin. There are no regulations about what the big companies put in their products. Some of the skin care products are so toxic it’s horrifying. Go to http://www.ewg.org and find skin deep and you will be horrified about what you put on your skin.

I loved reading your meme so much, I did it myself. I loved your oatmeal photo, because although I do love oatmeal, I unhealthy it up with brown sugar. Your photo of it made it look really unappetizing, so I can understand why you wouldn’t like it. And I really liked your answer to #4 because it’s true, to make a relationship work you have to be willing to let someone tell you what to do. They key to that (in my opinion) is to over-think the issue and decide whether or not something is worth fighting about. Being lazy and apathetic, I find few things worth fighting about. It’s like this: If one person doesn’t feel like it, two cannot fight. I’m the one who never feels like it. πŸ™‚

I’ve done at least two memes, and have been giving thought to a couple more I’ve run into lately. There’s nothing you could do to get me to do one. Either I’m feeling it or I’m not. That just how I am. I’ve done so little writing as of late, I’ve got tons of catching up to do. But don’t hold your breath, because I can procrastinate with the best of ’em. πŸ˜‰ I’ll try, really I will.
