Weight Watchers Saturday! Music From the 50’s!

I just got back from my weight watchers meeting and lost 2 pounds. Not .2 like last week but 2 whole pounds. I’m so happy, that I am going into town later to a fat lady’s store to try on some clothes and figure out what size I am. I have no clue. When I started all this I was a size 32 in jeans. We will soon see what size I am. I will keep you posted. I also am in the 60’s finally. It seems like I’ve been in the 70’s forever. Now I look forward to getting into the 50’s which means I will be listening to 50’s music soon. Here is a small selection of what I will be listening to.

  • Perry Como
  • Tony Bennett
  • Rosemary Clooney
  • Eddie Fisher
  • Nat King Cole
  • Pat Boone
  • Fats Domino
  • The Platters
  • Bill Haley & His Comets
  • Jerry Lee Lewis
  • The Everly Brothers
  • Buddy Holly & The Crickets
  • Frankie Avalon
  • Paul Anka
  • Bobby Darin
  • Elvis Presley
  • The Chordettes
  • The McGuire Sisters
  • Little Richard
  • Patti Page

I saved Patti Page for last because I wanted to present this video of her singing one of my favorite songs and if you know where I live and know Patti Page you will know what song it is. It is definitely a classic.

Honestly, I can’t think of anywhere I’d rather be than on Old Cape Cod.

Congratulations! That will be fun to try on smaller clothes. I’m about there for pants because they are all hanging off me now like baggy hobo pants. Eww. I’ll see how I did next Monday.Last week was a big fat zero. LOL.

Enjoy the 60s. They are the BEST. (Of course, I was born in 60.) LOL

    @ Little Miss
I have one t-shirt that actually fits and one pair of black jeans, not a great color for summer. That’s my wardrobe.
My last week was bad too but it’s all ups and downs but you can never give up.

Woohoo! Great job! Hey, what exactly do you mean that you are “in the 60’s”?

I started out weighing 344 pounds. I count down by 10’s so I went to the 30’s, 20’s ,10’s, 00’s,90’s, 80’s, 70’s and now I am finally in the 60’s. I also only listen to music of the decade I’m in so now I am listening to music of the 60’s. I weighed 268.6 this morning with a total loss of 75.4 pounds in 15 months. It only averages to 5 pounds a month and I wish I could have done 8 pounds a month but I did my best. At least I didn’t do the surgery which I was very afraid of. By doing it through weight watchers I have learned how to eat and have a better chance of keeping it off. I have 123.6 pounds to go and I know I will succeed. At the rate I’m going that will take two more years. But that’s OK because I’m not on a diet. I plan on eating this way forever so whatever happens will happen.

Thanks for the vote of confidence. I can use those Woohoos. Everyone on the blogs helps me keep going.

Well, jeez, I didn’t realize you had already lost that much! Good for you for being healthy! You have a great attitude. Healthy for life is way better than dieting just to lose weight. I wouldn’t worry about the numbers per month either, because 5 lbs a month is very healthy and you are more likely to make that a permanent weight loss than if you did some crazy crash diet. But I’m sure you know this! Anyway, you must feel so great! I’ve heard a LOT of good things about Weight Watchers and I’m glad they are helping you.

You really are doing fantastic! Your attitude is great too – knowing you are not ON a diet but that you have just changed your diet is wonderful. Great Patti Page song! Very fitting for you! She has such a pretty voice and those pretty blue eyes too! You are in a great decade for music now. 🙂 But hopefully you like the next one too. 🙂

Congrats, Joan!! You are really doing well, and you are very inspiring!
Some great singers/bands on that list! And yes, even though I’m only 30, I have heard of most of them! 😉 When you hit the 50’s I probably won’t know that many, LOL! 😉

Weight watchers is the answer to my prayers. It’s a way of eating and dealing with food that I can handle. Losing weight to fast is definitely unhealthy. That’s one reason why I didn’t want to have surgery. I’ll just keep on trukin and one day I’ll be a size 10.

    @ David
    I agree! Yea weight watchers!

    @Teeni

I’ve always loved Patti Page. It brings me back to my childhood. I still can’t believe I’ve lost so much weight.
    Thanks for the support.

    @ Hannah
All that music is from the 50’s so I can’t listen to it yet. I was just posting what I can look forward to when I hit the fifties. Now I can start listening to 60’s music.

    @ Kaylee

You would love Cape Cod. Very different from Arizona. Though my daughter loved Arizona when she went there on vacation in March.

    @ Odette
She was one of my favorites when I was a little girl. I like the older music too. You are an old soul and a good soul.

It’s an oldie photo and I actually made the dress. I was matron of honor in my best friend’s wedding. I want to be thin like that again.

You’ll know when it’s time and you’ll just do it. Look at me I wasn’t ready until I was 57 years old. Just don’t wait that long.

For the record Joan, that pic of you in the blue dress made me sigh. I decided to be decent about it, wipe off the drool, and just comment “Yay Joan …” instead of slobbering.

Um. Nice photo Joan! For the record …

Oh you make me blush!! I’m determined to get that body back. I’m still working out how to look that young. I was 32 at the time. Botox, facelifts, maybe tape. I am afraid of any doctor cutting my face and botox sounds way to poisonous. Somehow I’ll have to come up with an invisible facelift tape. I’ll have to get rid of the gray I have in my hair though I don’t have too much yet. This will all happen after I lose the poundage which is happening on schedule. I still have good teeth. I feel I can be hot again one day.
