Another meme from Museditions
She has a great blog and a lot of thought provoking posts. I don’t like to think too much but when I do I go visit her. Too much thinking causes brain pain.
The Expansionist Meme:
Please thoughtfully consider the following, and choose one item for each of the categories below. (Be sure to describe your reasons for choosing)
~ ~ ~ ~ ~
One religious work from a non-familiar tradition you’ll read:
I have read about Christianity, Buddhism, the I Ching, Wicca. I would probably like to read more about fundamental Muslims to find out why they strap bombs on themselves and kill random people and what makes them think God will reward them for it. That baffles me. I won’t post a picture here. What picture could I possibly post that wouldn’t depress people.
********
One music video–that you like–from your “least likely to listen to” genre:
I don’t usually get into rap music but here it is: (some profanity, are you surprised?)
********
A book from a genre you almost never read, that you have read, or you will read (promise!):
I never read Harlequin romance novels. I figure I could read one in ten minutes so it wouldn’t take much time. It might actually be hilarious and I’ll take more time reading it but I’ll give it a try.

************
Somewhere you’d never thought to go on holiday/vacation, and why it might be fun to go there:
There are a lot of places I have wanted to go like England, Italy, etc. The standard places people always want to see. Lately though, I’ve been thinking about New Zealand. It’s a place I never thought of visiting but now I have blogger friends who live there so I know there are nice people there. Also Lord of the Rings was filmed there and that movie shows beautiful places I would like to see and l used to have a customer that vacationed there every year and loved it. He even brought me back a pair cool knitted mittens one year.

HOBBITON, NEW ZEALAND

A specific food you’ve never tried, but will because of this meme, honest!:
There was an article in the local newspaper this week (why do I read it, I’ll never know) about eating insects. The 17 year cicadas are here and the article talked about how the world should start eating insects. They are high in protein. So, I’ll tell you now–NO FUCKING WAY WILL I EAT AN INSECT. What I will try and have thought about because it is a lean protein is buffalo. I will try that.
~ ~ ~ ~ ~
A sport or game you really hate, or haven’t tried yet, but are willing to give one more go:
Cane racing? I’ll give it a go as long as I don’t have to go too far or too fast.
CANE RACER IN UNIFORM

~ ~ ~ ~ ~
A style of dance you probably won’t try (we won’t make you promise on this one):
Your damn right you won’t make me promise because wheelchair dancing is something I only think about but will probably never do.

~ ~ ~ ~ ~
A career or job you don’t feel you’re suited for, and why:
I am not suited do be the boss of people because I don’t like telling people what to do. I am also not suited for having a boss because I don’t like being told what to do.

~ ~ ~ ~ ~
An item that’s “thinking out of the box” for this meme, that hadn’t been included:
“Thinking out of the box” I already know how most of you want to be cremated so that leaves that out. This is difficult. OK I just thought of one:
What animal do you most identify with as being like yourself and why?
I identify myself with a cat. Sleep a lot during the day, up all night making noise and irritating those who are trying to sleep, eat only one kind of food( cats eat cat food: I eat weight watchers food–same difference) , suddenly getting up and running around and playing with toys and then getting bored after 10 minutes and laying down again. Enjoying just looking out the window with no great desire to actually be out there. Too scary out there. Don’t like being in cars or going to the vet, in my case the doctor. It doesn’t take much to entertain me. Quiet except when hungry and you get to sleep anywhere you want.
MY CATS LIKE TO SLEEP IN BOXES

**********
The person (Museditions) I got this meme from asked:
“What is the one class/course that you never could; never would; never should take or have taken in high school?”
MY ANSWER
I never should have taken Spanish. I should have taken French. I am French. My mother spoke French but everyone told me Spanish was easier so I took the easy way out. When am I ever going to use Spanish. I have no desire to go to Mexico and all the illegal Mexicans that are here can learn English. I wouldn’t speak to them in Spanish even if I could remember how. I can’t think of a photo to put here that wouldn’t offend someone.
~ ~ ~ ~ ~
The following was already in the meme so I will just leave it. Though I am none of those things on the list. I might possibly be the last one but only in the form of a blogger.
***************
To proceed with “thinking out of the box” here, I won’t tag specific individuals, because some of you don’t like that; nor will I open it up to “anyone who wants to participate” because hardly anyone does when that’s said. Instead I’ll request a response from at least one person in each of the following categories (more are welcome):
—-an atheist
—-a follower of a particular religion
—-a person who believes science will eventually be able to answer our questions
—-an artist
—-a musician
—-a writer.
Of course, you may fit into more than one of these categories, as I do myself. You don’t have to tell us which you are, either, just please let me know in the comment, here, if you do the meme. I found this meme challenging and insightful. Hope you enjoy it!

This IS a good meme. I had lots of things to comment on while reading which have all evaporated now that I’m typing… OH yea! While in Costa Rica, they invited us to try eating a termite – guess they taste like peanuts. I so wanted to but my friend jumped in to try it and agreed, yep – peanuts. I never did attempt. My cousin made me eat an ant once. one of those big black ants; it was rolled into biscuit dough so it really wasn’t a big deal. Bison is quite good, very lean, no crap in it (antibiotics).
Jun 12, 2008 @ 12:51:06
great Meme! I can tell you, Buffalo is excellent!! The Godsband and I eat it alot!
Jun 12, 2008 @ 15:14:15
My hubby eats the buffalo jerky all the time. I have not tried it because he buys the super hot stuff and I think super hot is not a flavor. I laughed so hard about your refusal to eat a bug. I am with you on that. I will eat dirt before I eat a bug, and that is with the knowledge that the bug probably pooped in the dirt. If I were to feel the bug body pop or crunch in my mouth I know I would puke.
Jun 12, 2008 @ 16:36:27
I like how you led us to believe you were going to eat a bug and then, aw, hell no!
I can relate to your comment about not wanting to tell people what to do or be told what to do. That’s me too! That’s why I work ALONE!
Great meme, Joan. I don’t think I can do this one but I liked reading yours.
Jun 12, 2008 @ 19:25:43
GOOD Meme
Jun 12, 2008 @ 19:41:19
Oh too cool! LOL @ your insect bit. If you are ever in New Zealand, make sure you drop in!
Jun 12, 2008 @ 20:06:30
Yep, you gonna like you some tasty buffalo meat. I’m one of the weirdos though that prefers wild meat. They just eat what they can find, no antibiotics or growth hormones.
You must get fresh seafood where you live. I like that lots, too.
Jun 12, 2008 @ 20:07:17
Pee Ess: I tried to email you an answer to your comment, and it came back undeliverable.
Jun 12, 2008 @ 20:56:17
May have to try this (not tonight though, LOL) I’ll let you know if I do.
Buffalo meat: Delish… Indian Fry Bread Tacos in South Dakota are yummm… (Although probably not WW type food, LOL.)

I feel so run down today. I started to read this earlier in the day and then stopped. I came back to it just now and almost skipped it again, thinking maybe I just wouldn’t read it at all. Then I said “fuck it” and read it anyway. Is it ok to say “fuck it” here? If not, sorry. I wont’ do it again. So anyway, I finally made it to the end, and then I skipped all of the other comments, which I rarely if ever do. I’m just feeling so bummy right now. This wasn’t my favorite meme, but you did a real nice job on it. I don’t think I’ve read a single post of your’s I didn’t like.
I even like your “I’m not gonna blog” posts.
I liked all of your answers and the pictures that went along with them. Nice video, do you like the movie too? Oh, hey, I just got back a while ago from my MRI. I didn’t realize how long those things take. Mine took 40 minutes. They said they should have the results back in a couple of days, but the weekend doesn’t count, so I’m guessing that means Monday or Tuesday. Anyway, I’m calling it quits for the night. Take care, Joan. Catch you later.
Jun 13, 2008 @ 02:57:28
Wow, thanks, Joan! I hope I don’t require TOO much thinking!
So, you might read more about Islam. I’ve found it fascinating. That Harlequin cover is just too much! New Zealand does look really beautiful, I agree. Hahaha, you had me about eating insects! No way, huh? Cane racing sounds like a worthy sport to me, you go, cane lady! All your pics here are just great, as I have come to expect. Thanks for doing this.
Jun 13, 2008 @ 06:02:53
“A sport or game you really hate, or haven’t tried yet, but are willing to give one more go:

CANE RACER IN UNIFORM”
Joan, I think I just pee’d myself. WTF? How do you EVER in a zillion years come up with this stuff? Shoooot! I’m at work and now I’m going to smell like urine for another 2.5 hours thanks to you!!!! Ya know, I’m gonna have to start bringn’ spare undies!
Jun 13, 2008 @ 07:19:24
Great post, great answers, great pics, great everything! You rock, joan!
Jun 13, 2008 @ 13:23:55
@ CuriousC
I’ve never eaten a bug purposefully. But I did eat one by mistake when I was a kid riding my bike and it flew into my mouth and in my hysteria swallowed it.
@Calamity
I think I will actually try bison. Other people seem to like it too. I think I’m brave enough to try it but no bugs.
@ Betme
I always have to change the channel on TV when they show people crunching on bugs. Just thinking about it is gross.
@ birdpress
I have to work alone to. I don’t even like working with people. I loved having my shop because I worked alone and could do what I want. Some days I worked and others I watched reruns of the Gilmore Girls or played on the computer.
@ Kaylee
Thanks, Kaylee.
@ Hay
Someday when I am in better shape I want to do a little traveling. I can definitely picture myself in New Zealand. What a beautiful country. I will also pop by if I ever get there.
@ witchypoo
We only eat organic produce and meat. It gets expensive but my daughter pays for it so I’ll cook it. We use no chemicals in our house including cleaning products and bodycare products.
@ Mrs. Vierkant
What is an Indian fry bread taco? Sounds good. I assume it contains buffalo meat.
@ Peter
I said most of everything I wanted to say to you on your blog this morning. I’m glad you are feeling better today. And thank you for saying “fuck it’ and reading my post anyway even though you felt like shit.
@ Museditions
Fortunately, your blog doesn’t actually require too much thinking. Actually it’s good for me to think once in a while and keep my brain working. I don’t want to end up as a dead head. But you do have a blog that makes me think which is what I like about it.
@JavaQueen
I don’t know where I come up with all the crap I write about. It’s probably some brain tumor or the start of dementia that causes all these thoughts to come to me or I’m posessed by a dead comedian.
I’m sorry you had to sit in Pee pants for so long.
@ Trisha
Thanks, Trisha. I’m happy you enjoyed it. I’m rocking right now to ZZ top.
Jun 15, 2008 @ 23:33:07
oh, these are so much fun to read! I love learning more about you, Joan. You are quite a character (and I mean that in a good way).
Nov 16, 2009 @ 06:04:16
ciao
Dec 13, 2009 @ 03:38:48
Hi Joan, Loved reading the comments. As for eating insects purposely no, I think not. Although by accident.. Yes, LOL
When I was young I stopped by at a neighbor girls house, Who had a big party the day before. Upon seeing a party favor horn on a bush. We exclaimed and picked it up. I tried to blow the horn but it wouldn’t work.. again to no avail, and with coaching to try breathing in fast. I tried it when I felt something big hit the back of my throat, too late down it went. We looked in the horn to see what it could be and there was a spiders web. My friend started screaming thinking I would die because I swallowed a spider, and with such assurance that I had to act immediately or die. We ran to her Mom, and was told that I had to drink a gallon of water to drown the spider…. haha… That ended my spider swallowing career.
Dec 17, 2009 @ 01:16:04
That is quite a story about the spider. I don’t think I will ever blow a party favor horn again. Thanks for stopping by and giving a good laugh.
